What is School Condition Allocation?

School Condition Allocation (SCA) is a funding mechanism administered by the Department for Education to help maintain and improve the condition of school buildings. The funding allocation is aimed at:

  • Local Authorities

  • Special Schools not maintained by the local authority

  • Special Post-16 instructions.

  • Larger Multi-Academy Trusts (MATs) and Voluntary Aided (VA) bodies must meet the following criteria:

    • Body had 5 or more open schools at the start of the preceding September.

    • The schools total at least 3,000 pupils counted in the preceding Spring census.

Specification and Tender:

  • Project Briefing: Discuss and agree on project specifics and appoint specialist surveys.

  • Specification Writing: Prepare detailed specifications and obtain agreement from the client.

  • Tender: Issue sealed bid tender documents to be returned to the client directly.

  • Tender Analysis: Comprehensive analysis, benchmarking and clarifications with contractors.

Project Award:

  • Contractor Appointment: Assist with contractor appointment and coordination.

  • Pre-Start Meeting: Undertake pre-start meeting with the project team.
